Great on the go Coursera!

Compact and has all the important features. I just wish the videos could rotate to fit the screen.

Great companion app

Great app for Coursera users. I use it all the time.

Worst Customer Support and bad code

Want to give no stars but have to give at least one. Doesnt deserve it. Assignments do not open in the app, you are forced out to the website. SAFARI IS NOT SUPPORTED, so you better be using chrome or explorer (seriously). There is now two-stage is and their system does not recognize your hardware so if you are on your phone or your iPad, you are directed to provide access to the webcam. Complaining about these issues only got the helpful suggestion of "go buy a webcam." Coursera is not even aware of their own class requirements. The class Im attempting requires assignments be submitted by a due date for peer review. Customer support tells me that I can submit my assignment anytime and it will not affect my grade. Because if the tech issues my assignment is late and my class standing is in jeopardy. And the final kick us they refuse to refund me. Shoddy.

Coursera app unreliable, great classes but constant sales pressure annoying

The Coursera app would be great if it worked reliably. But even though I have the cellular data option enabled in the apps settings, it frequently fails to connect over LTE, when YouTube and EdX connect without problem. Also the constant sales pressure to upgrade to paid versions of their courses is obnoxious. They want to maintain the marketing claim that everything is free, but do everything possible to make this inconvenient. For example its no longer possible to browse the video lecture content of most courses without jumping through a lot of hoops. Finally, when I pay several hundred dollars for a certificate version of a course (as I did for the excellent UW machine learning sequence) I want to be able to access current content at any time rather than only at the artificial fixed startup dates set by Coursera. Coursera should rethink its go to market approach. They have great content, but Udemy has a much better web site that is far easier to use.

Coursera is a Great Opportunity

I am grateful to have learned about the existence of Coursera. It provides me the chance to branch out and advance my knowledge in new fields without strapping me down to a course...if I find a new area of interest, then that is great, but if it turns out that the topic Ive selected isnt something that truly holds my interest, then Im not left with the sense of obligation to complete a course just to rationalize having spent my money on it. I go out of my way to take part in the surveys throughout the courses because I feel an obligation to give back to this program and to help improve it for others and myself as well. Sure, theres room for technological improvement, but with time and useful feedback I believe these small issues will be resolved.

Easy peasy

The interface has been amazingly easy to use

App? Not really...

Looks like they are just trying to wrap the website or using some other non-native craptastic technology. Its horrible. Signed up for a new class a couple hours ago and its still not showing up. Practically useless.

Good app, amazing videos and its free

Great concept and spreading of free knowledge is a noble endeavor

The best

I knew I could keep going to school somehow

Great Intro

Courses Intro to Global Health is a well organized course that covers the major topics in this area. The exercises on the web are good introductions to what there is available to read more on the topics.

You can learn almost amything

I love the concept of coursera. So far the app has been working great for me. It got me excited about learning again and Im looking forward to its growth.

Awesome

Great platform to learn a variety of topics

Good site, bad app

Coursera app (iPhone): Sorry, but this has a LOT of bugs. It does not accurately show my progress in the course, I could not access saved drafts of the assignment, I could not save a draft when I re-entered all the assignment information, and the "Submit" button was unresponsive. ...please fix. This is excruciating.

Wonderful

Top-notch teachers, a wide variety of courses, good productions values, and all absolutely free. The teachers really care about presenting material in a way that engages, enlightens, and entertains. Ive taken several courses here (and at edx.org, another great MOOC site that doesnt have an app, but works well with the iPad), mostly in science and philosophy and Im very pleased. Try it, youll like it!

Very good

For 1.0, this app is great. It would be nice if the course catalog refreshed with the courses most recently viewed at the top. And an iPad version.

Have most of the functions of the web-based site

Generally you have full access to the courses and interactions, but some in-video multiple choice questions do not work interactively in this app.

This is an app review (not a coursera review)

This app enables me to do the courses even when I am on the move. I still need my PC to submit my assignments, which is acceptable -as I have to work on the assignments using the PC. All the other things can be done through this app. Great app.

Nice app

It helped me a lot. Most of the time I dont need to go to the browser to learn. But, I dont like it when it says you need to go to the browser to view this item . Also, if the internet connection is slow then video plays but the frame stays still..."video is playing but not playing (just sounds playing)"

Learning

Grateful for the opportunity to learn.

Great!

Loving Dr. Hariris class on history. Streams perfect. Can go to class any time anywhere!
