The Coursera app would be great if it worked reliably. But even though I have the cellular data option enabled in the apps settings, it frequently fails to connect over LTE, when YouTube and EdX connect without problem.
Also the constant sales pressure to upgrade to paid versions of their courses is obnoxious. They want to maintain the marketing claim that everything is free, but do everything possible to make this inconvenient. For example its no longer possible to browse the video lecture content of most courses without jumping through a lot of hoops.
Finally, when I pay several hundred dollars for a certificate version of a course (as I did for the excellent UW machine learning sequence) I want to be able to access current content at any time rather than only at the artificial fixed startup dates set by Coursera.
Coursera should rethink its go to market approach. They have great content, but Udemy has a much better web site that is far easier to use.
